The black on white is inseparable. Like a drug it draws you in. Don't underestimate the power of something so small and inanimate, for it the haven of people like you and me who live for imagination. Wishing is futile and so is envy. So why not have your own life...lived in an alternate reality, the reality of literature.

Is that person to see me near
I'm not too pretty
Or ever so smart
But on occasion I can be witty
I hope I don't look like a tart
I know it's a phase
And eventually I'll see
It's best to come out of this daze
And just continue being me.
There, I got that down right. Well, cheerios for whomever reads this.

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
Title: Twilight
Author: Stephenie Meyer
Genre: Teen, romance, fantasy, modern
Published Date: 6 September 2006
Personal Rating: 4.4/5
Money's Worth: Better than it sounds.
When it first came out, I was skeptical about buying it. Everyone in school was reading it, and being a closet rebel, I purposely didn't read it. Everyone said it was nice and at first I thought it was a thriller. I purposely go out of my way to avoid the thriller section in bookstores.
Then there was a clearance sale at one of the stores and amongst the books marked 1/2 price was Twilight. This time I actually picked it up and read the back. I was surprised to say the least that it was about vampires and was a teen story. I bought it but never removed it from the packing. About 6-7 months later, the third book came out and within 2 days I had finished Twilight.
I couldn't resist, they were all talking about it and I had the book, so why not?
The story begins with Bella, the child of divorced parents. Her mother is sending her to stay with her father in a relatively obscure town. She goes though she needn't like it. There, she was so convinced she would hate everything.
Gradually she made friends and even had a relatively good relationship with her father. In school however, a group of students intrigued her. The Cullens were a group of five students alienated by the other students. Or rather the Cullens Alienated them.
Of the group was Edward Cullen. Her friends warned her that he was bad news, but how bad could he be when he saved her from being sandwiched between two trucks? VERY bad news, that's what, because he stopped the car from slamming into her with his bare fist. The body of the car was severely dented, but his hand and arm were unblemished.
Later Bella finds out that Edward is a vampire along with his other adopted brothers and sisters. So are their adoptive parents. Strangely, Carlisle Cullen(the father) is a vampire, but he is also the resident doctor. Over years, he had managed to practice the restraint with blood until he was able to treat people in emergency rooms without batting an eyelash.
Bella and Edward gradually grow closer than normal friends, and she is perfectly fine with the whole Cullen family. Her father seems to feel that as long as she's not moping nothing bad could be happening.
Everything is not roses as a new trio of vampires enters the vicinity while Bella was with the Cullens. One of the males sets his eye on Bella as his prey, regardless that Edward and the whole family have declared her as off-limits. The new hunter feels that all humans are cattle and begins stalking Bella.
Through an elaborately designed plan, Bella manages to lure him away from Fawkes (the town) with the help of the Cullens. With enough of wounds on either side, Edward manages to kill the hunter who actually managed to kidnap Bella, and all return home.
This book is relatively filled with humor. Not overflowing, but just enough for it to be well written. Though most vampire novels I read are usually leaning more towards the sensual, or horrific creatures, the Cullens are a good mix of both. The novel also tells the story of a girl, coping with the modern that almost every other girl faces with the exception of having vampire for a boyfriend.
Many modern issues are present such as divorce, peer-pressure, coming of age and the choice between friends.
It is a book all ages would love, though personally I still haven't seen an adult reading it. It is the type of novel guys would not be caught dead reading; in my school none of them even touched it. But girls... it has enough romance, but not enough to be smutty or fluffy. There's the vampire factor to consider and it's not too bloody or gory, but just enough to make it a read impossible to put down.
The Ranger's Apprentice: The Ruins of Gorlan by John Flannagan
Title: Ranger's Apprentice: The Ruins of Gorlan
Author: John Flannagan
Published Date: 16 June 2005
Genre: Teen, Adventure
Personal Rating: 4.2/5
Money's Worth: At first it doesn't sound very interesting but by the middle of the book, it keeps you at the edge of your seat.
When I first saw it in a bookstore, I thought it was a book solely for guys, then through a program in school, where we get the books at a discount, I decided in a fit of recklessness, to buy it.
Imagine my surprise when I actually got hooked on it. The story starts off with five children, 3 boys and 2 girls who have come of age. In the fief where they live, once the orphans come of age, they are dividede into different crafts.
Will is a scrawny young boy and dreams of entering Battleschool as he was old his father was an amazing warrior. But being of slight build has put a wedge in his dreams. He was rejected from Battleschool and Horseschool. Then, amongst the Masters assembled, Halt the ranger steps forward and gives a letter to the lord.
That night, Will tries to gain access to the office where the letter is stored and gets caught by Halt. Will is then accepted by Halt to become a Ranger's apprentice. He studies hard and is an apt learner.
Then one day, Halt says that there will be a Ranger's meeting as an ancient evil is rising. Along the way there are some problems in the plan and Halt and Will have to go off and start first while they wait for backup. In the terrain where they're traveling, there live 2 monsters that the evil has created and Halt takes them on while he tells Will to stay back.
In the end the back up does come, but not before Halt is gravely injured. Will is initiated into the Ranger's core without a formal testing because he actually managed to kill one of the monsters.
My summary may not seem much, but it truly is a good book.

They return to Galnicia to find that while only 5 months have passed for them, 10 years have flew by for the rest of the world. Malva's mother died and her father realized his mistakes and became much softer towards his daughter. Many Galnicians return after hearing their beloved Princess has returned.
Finally when we think that all will be well for Malva and her beloved, the Archont reappears. Orpheus is not around to protect Malva who runs through the palace trying to hide. When he does go to help, he has his musket trained on the traitor but because of sneezing fits, the bullet deflects and the Archont takes this oppotunity to drive his sword through Orpheus' heart- irreversible damage. Malva kills him, but Orpheus dies in her arms. In the end, Mlava is reunited with her friends and tells them what has happened.
The story ends with Malva- who has always loved to write stories, who decides to write the story of 'The Princess and Captain'.

The Silver Kiss by Annette Curtis Klause
Title:The Silver Kiss
Author: Annette Curtis Klause
Published Date: 1 August 1992
Genre: Adventure, romance, sci-fi, light humor, teen
Personal Rating: 4/5
Money's Worth: Quite worth it, except that you get a better bargain for a second-hand book.
Zoe is a 16 year old girl whose mother is dying from cancer. In addition to that her father seems to be distancing her from her mother and himself as though he wants his wife to himself exclusively. Bereft of any familial company, Zoe relies on her best friend. But she too moves away for a time and doesn't appear again in the book after the first few chapters.
Then one day, Zoe meets the enigmatic Simon who seems to understand her feelings perfectly. Drawn to him, she is soon horrified to find out that he is a vampire, and at first flees from him. Come Halloween a few days later however, Simon appears at Zoe's house to explain. He tells her that, he didn't become a vampire by choice, and that the real person that had forced the change had also killed his mother. He then dedicated his life to hunting his mother's killer and destroying him.
Zoe does take Simon once when she goes to see her mother. She asks him if he could turn her mother, but he says that it would be worse than torture. The cancer in her mother's body would destroy cells as fast as the vampire blood would heal her.
Finally, Zoe convinces Simon to let her help him find and destroy his mother's killer who has been terrorizing the streets of her home town. After completed his mission, Simon decides that he has had enough of his second life and tells Zoe that he plans to end his life and he wants Zoe to help him. When he does face the sun, instead of his leaving being painful, he goes without pain and calmly turns into a sunbeam. The sunbeam reference is connected to a poem that Zoe wrote earlier in the story.
It starts off as extremely sad, but grows to be and extremely meaningful story about a girl dealing with death. Zoe is the the girl and Simon represents death. Sometimes death can be your friend. It also represents temptation to get rid of all her troubles, Zoe takes comfort in the supernatural, namely Simon.

Dragon's Bait by Vivian Vande Velde
Title: Dragon's Bait
Author: Vivian Vande Velde
Published Date: 1 April 2003
Genre: Fantasy, adventure, hint-of-romance
Personal Rating: 5/5
Money's Worth: I got it at a second hand book sale, but otherwise, I would say it's only worth half of what you pay
Summary: Alys lives with her father the owner of a tin shop in the village of St.-Toby's-Over-The-Mountain. One day the wheelwright who wants her father's shop, accuses Alys of being a witch. Alys' father who is already seriously ill is unable to take the strain and dies.
Instead of a normal burning at the stake, the Inquisitioner tells the villagers that they could kill 2 birds with one stone by suggesting that they sacrifice Alys to the dragon that has been disturbing the village. Apparently a virgin sacrifice appeases dragons. The do that, and end up staking Alys out on a hillside. After watching the death of her father, Alys has no more fight in her and she basically gives up, allowing them to ti her up without resistance.
After they leave though, Alys hears wolves. She has 2 options; fast death by dragon, or slow death by wolves. As she has nothing more to live for, when she sees the shadow of the dragon in the sky, she gets it's attention. However the dragon seems to have no interest in her as food, rather, it just stares at her. Alys who was previously facing everything with a stoic comportment, can't stand the prolonged waiting to die and breaks down.
Then instead of claws, hands pull her hands away from her face. Where there used to be a dragon is now a young man that looks to be 17. He has long gold hair and purple eyes and strangely enough, he's buck naked. Alys recognizes the eyes as those of the dragon. But yet again, the dragon shows no interest in eating her. Oddly, he is intrigued by her story and says he will help her get revenge.
Along the way, Selendrile, the dragon irritates Alys to no end, but somehow seems to help her even though he is cursed. Alys on the other hand learns a lot about wanting revenge and how somethings like friendships and love are worth sacrificing everything for.
Opinions: It was really great. Vande Velde can really capture her reader's interest. Her other books are the same intensity. The ending especially is touching and wracked with emotion. Though at first the ending seemed hanging for me, I later understood her reason for doing this. She is actually giving her writers to make the story their own. I find that even now 3 years later, I still lie in bed at nights making up my own ending for the story. Though I say it seems hanging, it is oddly completed, but still leaves room for imagination.
Seven Ancient Wonders by Matthew Reilly
Around 4500 years ago, the capstone upon the summit of the Great Pyramid of Giza absorbed the energy released by the Tartarus Rotation, and saved the earth from major flooding and catastrophic weather. This capstone was later divided up by Alexander the Great with one piece in a booby-trapped hidden location within each of the seven wonders of the world, in other than the Pyramid. If and when they are reunited and replaced on the capstone during another solar event, they can bring 1000 years of peace or power for the nation which possesses them.
In 2006, seven days before this sunspot is again due, the pieces are still divided and 3 teams are trying to reunite them, 2 for their own gain - one from Europe and the other the CIEF, the Commander-in-Chief's In Extremis Force. A third team is an alliance of a group of 'small nations' trying to reunite the capstone for nobler reasons, led by Captain Jack West, Jr., an Australian SAS man, and Professor Max Epper. This team and the European team each also possess a child of the oracle of Siwa, who is the only person who can read the "Word of Thoth", a special hieroglyphics system used in the booby-traps. Lily was saved from a booby trap within a Ugandan volcano by West and Epper at her birth by an emergency Caesarian, with Alexander being taken by the Europeans without noticing his twin Lily - in this episode, detailed in flashback, West lost his arm trying to stem the flow of lava that was creeping around them when they try, and fail, to foil del Piero's evil plan to take the child of the Oracle, but was later built a new stronger, artificial one by Maximilian Epper.
Also note: Before any of the events in this plotline, Jack West was injured at an exercise at Naval Base Coronado, during his recovering the Americans implanted him with a tracking device without West's knowledge.
West's team lose a capstone, the head the Colossus of Rhodes to the CIEF but manage to escape and then reach the hiding place of two more pieces at Hamilcar's Refuge on the coast of Tunisia. There they again lose their gains to the CIEF, and again escape.
They then spring Mustahpa Zaeed, the world's foremost authority on the Capstone and a known terrorist, from Guantanamo Bay, who leads them to two more pieces in the Victory of Samothrace in the Louvre and an altar in St. Peter's Basilica. Part of the team goes with West to Paris, where they successfully retrieve the piece and gaining vital information from the Place de la Concorde obelisk, but Epper's group is captured by del Piero at the Vatican, as is West's group on landing back at base in Kenya with the piece. Judah executes Doris Epper, the Professor's wife, for warning Lily of the impending trap, and takes the Paris piece. The survivors escape to the Hanging Gardens of Babylon in Iraq, but are there apprehended by an Israeli strike team, led by Avenger who managed to track down Archer (renamed Stretch) without him knowing, and trying to get just one piece as a bargaining chip against the European and American teams. West is forced to lead the Israelis to the piece, but the Americans arrive, execute the Israelis, capture the piece and trap West and his team. As the chip flickers off, Judah assumes West is dead, but in fact he has escaped in the Halicarnassus, found the chip and destroyed it.
Francisco del Piero escorts his hostages to Cairo with his lone Piece - taken from St. Peter's Basilica - and, in attempting to capture the CIEF's five pieces, lose the St Peter's piece and Epper and Lily to them. Judah then goes to Hatshepsut's Mortuary, and - with the aid of the measurements from the Paris Obelisk - finds the last piece in the tomb of Alexander the Great. Taking the whole Capstone to the Giza pyramid on the day of the rotation, placing Alexander in the chamber beneath it to ensure the ritual works.
However, Jack West and his team's plane return to stop them. Judah tries to carry out the ritual, but Alexander crawls out to save himself from death, unwittingly ensuring its failure and del Piero's death, then Lily crawls in willingly and Zaeed carries it out successfully. West, however, has switched the soil necessary for the ritual to Australian soil, ensuring 1000 years of Australian world dominion instead. West then kills Zaeed, Cal Kallis (Judah's Deputy), and Judah himself (notably, Judah attempts to shoot West, but his gun explodes because West is Australian and is protected by Tartarus's power), and finds that Lily has survived by (unlike Alexander) going into the chamber willingly.
The epilogue takes place three weeks later, with Wizard and Zoe accompanying Lily across Central Australia. Following a riddle left by West, the three set out to find him beyond the remote town of Death Valley. Upon arrival, they find West intends to bury the Capstone in the abandoned mines and will make future expeditions to recover the pieces of the Mausoleum, Lighthouse and Colossus from their hiding places. They also agree to lie about the events at Giza, describing how they had successfully managed to perform an alternative ritual that would save the world from Tartarus without making any single country invincible.
Okay, seriously, I would have put up a much shorter explanation, but as this is not mine,(I got it from Wiki) it's quite long. But hey, all for the sake of getting more people to read! It was a great book, I honestly couldn't put it down! I can't even say thet for Pride and Prejudice and I am a huge fan! However, like all nice books, the 1st one is nice, but come the second one... Well it didn't quite ensnare my mind. It's a great book and all those who love adventure novels would love this. Or even just puzzle books and riddles.

Wicked Deeds On A Winter's Night by Kresley Cole
I haven't updated for some time so here's a book I felt was nice. It's by far one of the least innocent books I've read.
From the back cover:
Her Breathless Kiss Haunts Him...
Bowen MacRieve of the Lykae clan was nearly destroyed when he lost the one woman meant for him. The ruthless warrior grew even colder, never taking another to his bed - until a smoldering encounter with his enemy, Mariketa the Awaited, reawakens his darkest desires. When sinister forces unite against her, the Highlander finds himself using all his strength and skill to keep her alive.
His Slow Hot Touch Is Irresistible...
Temporarily stripped of her powers, Mari is forced to take refuge with her sworn adversary. It's rumored that no one can temp Bowen's hardened heart, but soon passion burns between them. Though a future together is impossible, she fears he has no intention of letting her go.
No Deed Is Too Wicked For Her Seduction...
If they defeat the evil that surrounds them, can Mari deny Bowen what he demands her body and soul - or will she risk everything for her fierce protector?
My Thoughts:
It sure has a different track record from other books I've read. It doesn't start out innocent and tame. It jumps straight to the gut wrenching feelings of the two main characters. Things become more confusing and are filled with guilt and deciet when Bowen thinks that Mariketa is the reincarnation of his mate. Oh, then of course, he decides to test his theory and gets all caveman on her and doesn't let her out of his sight. And as all men are want to do, he bungles up his chance, and Mari leaves him. Then... what's this? Bowen's mate has returned from the dead? Oh, my! What is Mari to do? But is it really his mate? Fast paced, sexy and confusing, this will keep readers riveted to it's pages. Even the cover is sexy.
This is the third book in the series, but the books aren't interconnected. It's all different stories, but characters in previous books can be found in this one. I just have to read the other books!

A Heart Full of Miracles by Stephanie Mittman
Abby Merganser has been in love with Dr. Seth Hendon, the brother of her best friend Sarah, her entire life. But when Sarah dies, Seth blames himself for not being able to save her. His guilt eats away at his soul and self-confidence until depression overwhelms him and he considers giving up medicine.
Cock-eyed optimist Abby decides to force Seth to come to the conclusion that he loves her, despite the fact that her upbeat view of life is in direct opposition to Seths despair. However, in her naiveti she goes after what she wants, getting Seth to see the world in another light.
Just when it appears that she has won the battle, Abby realizes she will have to fight a new war. The headaches she has been experiencing may be life-threatening.
Seth, who has nearly turned his back on medicine, will be hurt and even more disillusioned when he learns of her condition. Can she push him away to save him from pain or will his newfound strength help them find a cure?
I'll not take credit for the summary, I took it from a website. I found it quite nice. It's a story about this doctor who doesn't trust in his abilities anymore since he blames himself for his sister's death. And along comes Abby Merganser, best friend of Sarah, Dr. Seth Hendon's sister.
She doesn't hold it against him that Sarah died. Quite the opposite, she has had feelings for the doctor for a long time, but he is easily 7 years older than she. When she tries to convince him that there is something between them, he denies it by saying she should have a better man. In addition to that the headaches that Abby has been having have begun to grow in intensity. She doesn't want to tell Seth because she feels that it would be unfair. She knows that Seth does feel something for her but he is leaving the town and she feels that if she does tell him what she believes is wrong with her, she would be holding him back. Instead, she allows herself to be assumed to be engaged to someone so she feels it will make it easier on Seth.
Seth does find out eventually and is furious about her condition. There is another doctor in the town and he told Seth about Abby's condition. This happens after Seth returns to the village. The other doctor is unable to perform the surgery required, so Seth is needed to be the hands whil the second doctor instructs him. Beore the surgery, Seth insists on marrying Abby and after the surgery, they wait for a long time but Abby eventually does wake and everyone is happy again.
If you want to know Abby's condition, you actually have to read the book. XD
The cover for Seth is HAWT!!!

This is becoming more and more frequent. Jus finished the Choral Speaking Competition Zon Tengah for private schools. In my opinion I feel that the 2nd place could have been given to someone else instead of the school that really got it. I couldn't even remember their topic after they got off stage. Anyway Sri Cempaka (my school) got 3rd place. We beat Tunku Ja'afar!!! They were last year's champs. OMG Tunku Ja'afar was so scary, I was so sure they'd win. Anyway, 3rd place is good as well cause it's our first time doing anything like this. And we only had like 2 whole weeks to practice, they had been preparing from January! All in all, I think we gave it our best. You go Sien Yi(script-writer) and Leong Khim(conductor)!

Lasher by Anne Rice
Taken from Wikipedia
The novel begins shortly after the mysterious disappearance of Dr. Rowan Mayfair, who only recently was married to contractor Michael Curry. Michael, feeling betrayed by Rowan, has sunk into a depression helped along by the useless drugs prescribed to him after his close-encounter with death.
Along comes the sexually adventurous Mona Mayfair, a thirteen-year-old witch more powerful than Rowan with more lines of descent from Suzanne than anyone else in the family. She seduces Michael, causing him to snap out of his stupor and renew his vow to find his wife at all costs. He is now convinced that wherever she has gone, she hasn't gone willingly.
And though it was she who dragged Lasher away from the house, she is now a prisoner of the monster she has created. He impregnates her twice, both times ending in miscarriage, and is successful the third time. As he drags her throughout Europe, she manages to send off DNA samples to colleagues in San Francisco, who discover that Lasher is a completely different species, and that Rowan herself has a genetic abnormality, polyploidy, or 92 chromosomes, which may have assisted in Lasher's supernatural birth.
The duo returns to the States, where Lasher sets out to impregnate other female members of the Mayfair family. All attempts are unsuccessful as the women immediately miscarry and hemorrhage to death. Rowan manages to escape Lasher, and after hitchhiking to Louisiana, collapses in a field and gives birth to Emaleth, a female Taltos. Rowan's last words to Emaleth are to find Michael, which she sets out to do, thinking that Rowan has died.
Rowan is found, and is rushed to a hospital, where she is diagnosed as being in toxic shock. An emergency hysterectomy is performed to save her life, eliminating all chances of her ever giving birth again. She is taken home to Michael, where she remains in a coma, though, unbeknownst to all, she is still aware of her surroundings.
Lasher returns to the house to tell Michael and Aaron his story of his past life. Born to Queen Anne of England, the second wife of Henry VIII, and a man from Donnelaith, Lasher is believed to be a saint known as Ashlar, and is quickly taken away by his father to Donnelaith. His father is the son of the Earl of Donnelaith, and from there he is sent to Italy to become a priest. He returns to Scotland after Elizabeth I takes the throne, and is killed there while performing Christmas Mass by followers of the Protestant reformer John Knox. He knows nothing again until Suzanne calls him back into existence.
Michael patiently hears Lasher out, and when his story is complete, Michael wastes no time in killing him and burying him under the great oak in the yard. Soon after, he discovers Emaleth in Rowan's room, feeding her the highly nutritious milk from her breasts. This resuscitates Rowan, but upon seeing Emaleth before her, she panics and screams at Michael to kill her. Michael refuses to, so Rowan grabs a gun and shoots her daughter in the head. Rowan immediately realizes what she's done, and crying for her daughter, insists that she be the one to bury her. She buries Emaleth next to Lasher under the oak.
My thoughts:
Originally, I might have read it but after reading the summary i don't think I will. I got up to the part where Mona has managed to have sex with Michael, but after that I had to go to school so I didn't really get into it. The excerpt from the book was intriguing. It made me think that Lasher was like her beloved or something, not the bad guy. If it's as gruesome as my mind is screaming then think I'll leave it for when my mom refuses to buy me new books, which looks like it's not too far off. Personally I might read it if someone made it into a movie, it would probably be easier to understand then. But in general the story line doesn't interest me much. So as a note to me, stick to the vampire novels that Anne Rice writes. XD

Random Meanderings
You'd think that after 9 years of living with the same family in the same house they'd notice that every night 3 air-conds come on. Noooo... when it's for that piece of crap who's younger than i of course the ac always comes on. But when it comes to me... Everyone forgets i exist.
Yea sure i had fun at he Celine Dion concert, but I am able to sympathize with Mathilde from The Necklace. She didn't like to visit her rich friend because after that she had to return to her meager life and reality. Just like that, I love to go out and attend socials and parties, but the reason why i don't is because when i return i feel so bad cause my room is soooo.... HOT! Can't anyone think that maybe i like to sleep in comfort?
OMG! At the concert tonight, there was this girl sitting in front of me, and she was screaming! Honestly, if she had wanted to she could have landed a leading role in a horror movie that demanded a lot of screaming! Ugh! I couldn't even enjoy the performance properly. Sad she didn't perform It's All Coming Back To Me Now.
I'm at an impasse. After the concert I have no idea if i should watch Titanic again or not. Even that small music video that was shown was so heart wrenching as it was, i almost cried, what would happen if i watched the whole thing. Anyway, I gotta finish +Math homework before i sleep and i gotta get good rest cause we have to Choral speak tomorrow. Hope all goes well.

Dark Magic (The Carpathian Series Book 4) by Christine Feehan

OMG! This is really bad! Just when i want to write some stuff bout this book (which just happens to be my favorite), it just has to go missing! The cruel ways of the world. I hope my dad doesn't find and read it, I'll have a tough time explaining how daddy's little girl was reading those books.
Book Description
They were masters of the darkness, searching through eternity for a mistress of the light...WOULD SHE FIND MAGIC... Young Savannah Dubrinsky was a mistress of illusion, a world-famous magician capable of mesmerizing millions. But there was one--Gregori, the Dark One--who held her in terrifying thrall. Whose cold silver eyes and heated sensuality sent shivers of danger, of desire, down her slender spine. With a dark magic all his own, Gregori--the implacable hunter, the legendary healer, the most powerful of Carpathian males--whispered in Savannah's mind that he was her destiny. That she had been born to save his immortal soul. And now, here in New Orleans, the hour had finally come to claim her. To make her completely his. In a ritual as old as time . . . and as inescapable as eternity.
My description.
It's really quite awful in the beginning where Gregori practically kidnaps Savannah, but pity the guy, he's turning vamp. Then of course, he has 2 show he's lost control and well...kinda rapes our favourite heroine. Of course as the heroine she has to understand him and forgives him and pulls him back... blah, blah, blah. You may be surprised by the dynamic change in Savannah's attitude. In the first few chapters, she hates Gregori's guts, then later she's all soft, sweet and sexy towards him. It's scarily fast how she undergoes the change. And the strange part of it is that it starts because Gregori rapes her! Wierd huh?
Dark Demon (The Carpathians Series Book 13) by Christine Feehan
I'm sitting here with aforementioned book in my lap as i type this. I must have read it about 7 times, though it kinda gets boring after the first 4 reads, Christine Feehan's books are not all like this. It does have it's charm though, seeing as it's like the thickest book in the series. I think the reason this book was a littleboring for me was because I've been reading the series upside down, or rather back to front.
Book Description
For as long as she can remember, Natalya has fought demons. Whether Carpathian or vampire, she slays those who murder by night, and has no equal--until she is seduced by the very thing she is supposed to be fighting.
Download Description
Christine Feehan has worked magic on a legion of fans with her darkly thrilling Carpathian tales. Now she delivers the provocative story of a female vampire slayer who proves as seductive-and mysterious-as the night dwellers she stalks... For as long as she can remember, Natalya has been fighting demons: first in the form of childhood nightmares, then later, immortal creatures that kill and prey on the innocent-including her own twin brother. Whether Carpathian or vampire, she slays those who murder by night, and has no equal-until she is seduced by the very thing she considers her enemy... A Carpathian who has seen nearly everything in his endless existence, Vikirnoff doesn't think he can be surprised anymore-until he faces a woman who rivals him as a vampire hunter. A formidable and gifted warrior in her own right, Natalya has a nature that is strangely familiar-yet alien-to his own. Who is this mysterious female who fears no one-not even him? Natalya could be the key to the survival of the Carpathians, but all Vikirnoff is certain of is that she is the key to his heart and soul...
According to some of the reviews I've read, readers stated that this book is a sort of conclusion, wrapping up loose ends. For the simple fact that this was the second Dark Sequence book i read, everyhting was a little jumbled.

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
Alright, as you may have seen from my picture on the right, i am a die hard Pride and Prejudice fan. So, here's what I feel one must know. If you are a romantic, and love those stories where the man is a chauvinistic pig, thinks he is too good for the girl and feels the girl should be honored that he is even speaking to her, then you're a guy. But if you like it with all that along with how the guy gradually begins to realize that even if you're drop dead gorgeous, though most women swoon at the sight of you, no one and that means NO ONE, will ever commit to a relationship with you, that a woman sometimes loathes to be proper and they can actually match men intellectually then this is the book for you. Of course if you love classics, renaissance, romance and humor that's a bonus when it comes to this book.
Elizabeth the main character is the second daughter of five in the Bennet family. Her eldest sister Jane is shy, third sister; Mary solemn and worldly (boringly so), and last two sisters Kitty and Lydia who are the Elizabethan-era husband chasers. Her father, Mr. Bennet is a simple man who loves all his daughters but Lizzie hold a special place amongst them. And finally Mrs. Bennet, who's sole purpose in life is to get her daughters married off to rich, handsome men.
The first time Lizzie encounters Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy is at the Meryton Assembly Hall during a dance. He insults her behind her back not knowing that what he said was quite clear and there starts the hatred. After much trouble, Mr. Darcy does confess to Lizzie hat he loves her, but in the deal insults her. Lizzie who had found out that Mr. Darcy broke her sister and Mr. Bingley up rejects him outright. She accuses him of many things and Mr. Darcy withdraws not very gracefully with a bruised ego. He deliveres a letter addressing the accusations and after reading it over and over, Lizzie finds she has begun to fall in love with the gentleman. That feeling is only enhanced when Mr. Darcy anonymously helps out her family when they are victim of Lydia's foolishness. The second time Darcy proposes is after Lady Catherine has demanded Lizzie to promise never to associate herself romantically with her nephew but of course such a promise is never made. The two get engaged almost directly after Jane and Bingley do.
It contains a lot of suspense as you have almost no idea what the leading lady is about to do next. We can see that Lizzie falls in love with Darcy slowly throughout the book, but suppresses her feelings as she feels that Darcy might not hold any affections for her any longer. The drama, misunderstandings, secrets, scandals, mad females and romance make this for a hard to abandon read.
Aims
This blog i shall dedicate to all the marvelous books I read. And of course all the wonderful authors and authoresses that own them. Let's hope i don't abandon this before i start. XD
